| Nicky Hambleton Jones - Channel 4's Celebrity 10 Years Younger Stylist! |
Thursday, 19th June 2008 - 1:46pm

When Channel 4’s 10 years Younger launched onto our screens, the then unknown Nicky Hambleton-Jones, discovered through her style consultancy Tramp2Vamp, became known as a guru of style. NEWS UPDATE...Nicky has just rebranded! Visit http://www.nhjstyle.com for more information. What Nicky has to say about Karen… “I worked with Karen on Jilly Graham’s 10 Years Younger programme and my eyes were opened to the use of permanent cosmetics. After Karen’s eyebrow procedure Jilly looked like she’d had a mini facelift.
They looked so natural - it lifted her whole face. Combined with the efforts of the rest of the team Jilly’s transformation was a real success having a huge affect on Jilly’s life.” As a qualified dietitian, Nicky had spent years running her own practice in her native South Africa, before moving to London. She and the show became an instant success and Nicky still owns her private practice alongside presenting the show. Do you need style tips, and want to be up to date on the latest trends?
Are you feeling dowdy and looking for a fresh, new look? Visit Nicky’s website at www.nhjstyle.com and see how she and her team of expert stylists can make you look and feel 10 Years Younger (without having to go on national TV!).
1. What did you do before 10 years younger? I ran my own personal styling business Tramp2Vamp for a couple of years prior to presenting 10 Years Younger. Before that I worked as a management consultant in the city. I am also a qualified Dietitian and ran my own private practice in South Africa before deciding to move to London and pursue a career in marketing after completing an MBA.
2. Do you ever go into the operating theatre and watch Jan Stanek carrying out his procedures? When I practiced as a Dietitian I used to go into theatre a lot to make sure the right nutrition was administered intravenously throughout the op. I’ve never been into theatre with Mr Stanek as there simply isn’t any space after you’ve got a camera man, a sound man, the director, as well as the operating staff, and surgeon squashed into a tiny room.
3. Your glasses are a part of your image, was this intentional? How many pairs do you own? Not really. I’ve worn glasses since the age of 8, and they’ve always been a way of life and a big part of my look. I think one of the reasons I got the opportunity to present 10YY was because I had such a distinctive look, of which my glasses are a big part. I currently own 10 pairs of glasses and 5 pairs of sunglasses. I love wearing glasses and can’t imagine life without them.
4. What’s the funniest thing you have done whilst filming? Probably strolling down the streets of SOHO in a slinky black strapless number belonging to one of the contributors on the show. I have never felt so exposed in my life – but it was amusing to do.
5. You are definitely a fashion guru, can you recommend where I can get advice on styling my hair and clothes to suit me? I founded Tramp2Vamp, a leading style consultancy, in 2001 and have personally selected a team of expert stylists to help everyday people with clothes, hair and make-up so they look fantastic effortlessly. So if you need a personal stylist, hair stylist or make-up artist I recommend them! Call 0845 430 9388, or go to http://www.nhjstyle.com for more information.
6. How do I take part in your programme? I feel 50 but I’m only 34! You have to apply to take part in ten years younger. You can download an application form from www.mavericktv.co.uk
7. Tell me your secret on how you keep so slim and looking so young. Everything in moderation and a lot of hard work. It’s a lifestyle. I eat healthily but sensibly. I’m not into strict diets and starving myself. I also do Pilates twice a week and run twice a week which helps to keep me fit and toned.
8. Does Andrew Barton style your hair? As often as he’s able to. Unfortunately now that he’s British Hairdresser of the year he’s in demand!
9. Is there anything in life you feel you haven’t yet achieved, what are your future goals? Absolutely, I’ve achieved a lot career wise but there are other things I’d like to do like learn to speak another language, master a martial arts, and learn to cook. I’d also like to have children some day, that’s if I can get my head around the idea of sleepless nights.
10. Do you plan any more TV work in the future? At the moment, 10 Years Younger takes up the majority of my time, and I don’t have the capacity to do any other TV, but if it came to an end I’d love to pursue other TV opportunities in the future.
